David Cook's brother, Adam Cook (37), lost his painful decade battle with cancer on Saturday.

American celebrity rock singer-songwriter David Cook shared his loss and sentiments on Sunday at the 12th annual Race for Hope 5K in Washington, D.C.

"I actually lost my brother yesterday to a brain tumor, and I couldn't imagine being anywhere else right now," celebrity rock singer-songwriter said.

Brain Cancer Research benefits the $98,000 raised by Cook's team.
